Michael Einig focuses his practice on executive compensation and employee benefits law. With over fifteen years of experience, he has advised public and private companies and individual executives on all matters related to executive compensation and employee benefits. Prior to founding Executive Compensation & Employee Benefits Law PLLC, Michael was a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig, a prestigious international law firm with over 2,500 lawyers worldwide.
Michael’s expertise encompasses the preparation, review, and counseling on non-qualified deferred compensation arrangements, compliance with Section 409A of the Internal Revenue Code, and the design and implementation of various deferred compensation plans. He also advises on equity and synthetic equity-based compensation, change of control issues, and “golden parachutes.” In addition to his work in executive compensation, Michael counsels clients on employee benefits and ERISA matters, including the structure, implementation, and administration of retirement plans, compliance audits, and handling submissions under IRS and DOL programs. He also provides guidance on the Affordable Care Act, COBRA, and HIPAA compliance.
Michael is well-versed in mergers and acquisitions, analyzing and negotiating the compensation aspects of transactions, and designing severance and early retirement programs. He ensures compliance with all relevant federal laws and provides strategic advice on the consolidation and rationalization of benefit plans post-transaction.
Michael holds an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law, a J.D. cum laude from Western New England College School of Law, and B.A. degrees in English from Rhode Island College and Political Science from James Madison University.
